From " The Church”
By Hus was a Czech Roman Catholic preacher and article writer in Prague. His theories were inspired by the The english language theologian Wyclif. Wyclif was one of the first opponents of papal specialist influencing politics power; using the anticlerical and biblically concentrated reforms referred to as Lollard Motion. The Lollard Movement was a precursor towards the protestant reformation. Likewise, Villa called for major reforms inside the church. Of primary matter to Villa was the status of the Pontiff, or Pere, within the house of worship. Based on his radical opinions and solid opposition to the church's foundational belief which the pope is a head of the church, Jan Hus was accused of heresy and was condemned. Hus registered his perspective and theories in monographs which were used by his accusers to build an instance against him. Of the thirty-nine sentences go through to him at his trial, twenty-six of them were deduced on his function " The Church. ” Because Villa refused to renounce his beliefs having been burned on the stake, to become national martyr against the Catholic Church.
The excerpts from his work " The Church” express Hus's opinions on the papacy. This individual begins simply by characterizing the role of Christ inside the church. Hus uses scriptures from Matt, I Philip, Hebrews, Luke, John, Philippians, and facts to support his argument, that Jesus is the only authentic roman pontiff, or bishop, of the Roman Catholic Cathedral. Hus expresses these scriptures as talking about three main themes of Christ: 1) Jesus is at the right palm of god, and no one can possibly be kept without him, 2) Jesus is ubiquitous and all understanding, and that 3) Jesus can be god. Jon Hus uses these scriptures to say that Jesus is the only true bishop because he baptizes and takes away the sins of the world, contains supreme guardianship over person, and that he may be the pope, or perhaps father of the future age.
